Description

Today, web users expect web sites to provide advanced features, dynamic user interfaces, and fast response times. To deliver that, you need to know the JavaScript language. This course covers JavaScript as it is used in today?s applications.

jQuery is a popular JavaScript library that simplifies event handling, animating, and Ajax interactions for rapid web development. Even casual web designers, who create web pages for fun, want to add the latest cool effects to their sites, and jQuery--the fast, flexible JavaScript library--is a tool of choice. Just as CSS separates "display" characteristics from the HTML structure, jQuery separates the "behavior" characteristics from the HTML structure. Students will learn visual effects, special controls and AJAX (DoJo).

Prerequisites

To get the most out of this course you?ll need an understanding of HTML and CSS, and how to use these two technologies to create web pages. JavaScript lives inside the web browser, and it's used to interact with a web page loaded into the browser. So being able to write HTL and style it with CSS is an important skill to have before you learn JavaScript.

Students should attend Course ISI-1254, Introduction to HTML, XHTML and CSS for Web Designers & Developers or have equivalent knowledge and experience.

This course assumes that students have little, or no, previous programming experience.
